AMBASSADOR FERNANDEZ EXPLORES PH-PAKISTAN INVESTMENT COOPERATION WITH PAKISTAN'S FEDERAL MINISTER FOR INVESTMENT |

Philippine Ambassador to Pakistan, H.E. Dr. Emmanuel R. Fernandez, paid
a courtesy call on The Honorable Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, Federal Minister
for Investment, Privatization, and the Board of Investment (BOI) of
Pakistan last 08 October 2025. The meeting underscored both countries' shared commitment to strengthening bilateral investment cooperation and expanding trade opportunities. Discussions focused on fostering closer BOI-to-BOI collaboration, given the comparable mandates of both institutions in promoting strategic sectors such as renewable energy, agribusiness, ICT, and manufacturing. Minister Sheikh reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to diversifying foreign direct investment (FDI) under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) framework, while Ambassador Fernandez emphasized the Philippines' ongoing reforms to enhance its investment climate through the Ease of Doing Business (EODB) Law, the work of the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA), and related legislative measures designed to streamline procedures and attract foreign investors. Both sides agreed to expand cooperation in agriculture, food processing, renewable energy, and manufacturing to help boost trade volumes and build a more balanced and mutually beneficial economic partnership. |
