PHILIPPINE EMBASSY IN ISLAMABAD CONDUCTS SUCCESSFUL CONSULAR MISSION FOR FILIPINOS IN KARACHI

KARACHI, 6-7 December 2025 - The Philippine Embassy in Islamabad successfully conducted a two-day consular mission in Karachi, Pakistan, delivering essential government services to Filipinos residing in Karachi and nearby areas.

A seven-member delegation composed of Third Secretary and Vice Consul Rain Mendoza, Finance Officer Manuel Ramos, Assistance-to-Nationals Officer Mary Grace Recolizado, Records and Communications Officer Charlyn Lau, Property Officer Danica Carla Mae Torres, Consular Receptionist Hamza Ali Khan, and Office of the Police Attache's Administrative Assistant P/SMSg. Rod Michael Mallanao traveled to Karachi to extend consular assistance to the Filipino community. The services rendered included passport processing, civil registry, notarial services, and voter registration, among others.

Day 1: Services at the Philippine Honorary Consulate General

The mission commenced on 6 December at the Philippine Honorary Consulate General in Karachi, where dozens of Filipinos availed themselves of consular services. The Embassy expresses its appreciation to Honorary Consul General Dr. Imran Yousuf and his team for providing full logistical and administrative support, ensuring smooth operations throughout the day.

Day 2: Outreach Mission at Community Christmas Celebration

On 7 December, the consular team conducted an outreach mission at A Zee Farm, the venue chosen by the Filipino community for their annual Christmas celebration. Holding the mission alongside the event enabled the Embassy to maximize the number of Filipinos served, particularly women workers who make up a significant portion of overseas Filipinos in Pakistan.

The event was graced by Ambassador Emmanuel R. Fernandez, who flew from Islamabad to join the community. His presence formed part of a wider set of diplomatic, cultural, economic, and political engagements undertaken during his trip.

Strengthening Welfare and Community Bonds

The Embassy underscores the importance of such initiatives in strengthening community ties and allowing overseas Filipinos to reconnect with their culture and heritage. Given that a large majority of Filipinos in Pakistan are women, the mission also aligns with the Philippine government's Gender and Development (GAD) advocacy-ensuring that Filipina workers have avenues to express their concerns, access government services, and feel supported by Philippine authorities.

In total, the Embassy was able to render consular services to 37 Filipinos over the two-day mission.

The Philippine Embassy in Islamabad extends its gratitude to the Filipino community in Karachi, the organizers of the Christmas celebration, and the Philippine Honorary Consulate General for their invaluable cooperation in making the mission a success. The Embassy remains committed to bringing government services closer to Filipinos across Pakistan and ensuring their welfare and protection at all times. END
