PHILIPPINE EMBASSY SUPPORTS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR SUSANA MARCAIDA'S PARTICIPATION IN NATIONAL DIALOGUE ON WOMEN, PEACE & SECURITY IN ISLAMABAD

Islamabad, 11 November 2025 - The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Islamabad extends its warm congratulations to Executive Director Susana Guadalupe Marcaida of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) for her invaluable participation in the National Dialogue on Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) held from 11 to 12 November 2025 in Islamabad, Pakistan.

The Embassy, through the Office of the Police Attache, provided logistical support throughout Ms. Marcaida's visit-from ensuring her smooth arrival and transport to her accommodations and the conference venue, to coordinating her departure arrangements. These efforts formed part of the Embassy's broader mandate to support Philippine delegations participating in multilateral engagements in Pakistan.

Executive Director Marcaida was invited as a distinguished guest by UN Women Pakistan, which co-organized the Dialogue together with the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA), in collaboration with the National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW). The high-level gathering commemorated the 25th Anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution 1325, and brought together senior government leaders, parliamentarians, civil society representatives, academics, and international partners.

Recognized in the Philippines and abroad for her pioneering work in localizing the National Action Plan (NAP) on WPS in conflict-affected communities, Executive Director Marcaida shared regional and global perspectives on advancing gender-responsive peace-building. Her interventions particularly emphasized the Philippines' long-standing commitment to inclusive peace processes, community-driven reconciliation, and the meaningful participation of women in security, humanitarian action, governance, climate resilience, and digital peace initiatives.

Executive Director Marcaida and her staff, Ms. Glyzee Faustino, paid a courtesy call on Ambassador Emmanuel R. Fernandez on 11 November 2025 at the Philippine Embassy. Ambassador Fernandez warmly welcomed the delegation and underscored the value of their participation in the Dialogue, noting that their contributions reflect the Philippines' enduring commitment to promoting women's leadership in peace and security at both national and global levels.

Executive Director Marcaida's presence and participation at the National Dialogue particularly on the second day of the event, helped highlight the Philippines' globally recognized leadership in the WPS agenda, especially its groundbreaking work in integrating women in formal peace processes and strengthening local ownership of peace-building initiatives. Her participation contributed to the exchange of best practices and further deepened Philippine-Pakistan cooperation in advancing women's empowerment, gender-responsive governance, and inclusive security policies.

The Philippine Embassy reaffirms its commitment to supporting initiatives that elevate women's roles in peace and development-both within the Philippines and in international platforms-while continuing to promote the country's leadership in shaping inclusive, gender-responsive approaches to today's global peace and security challenges.
