Philippine Ambassador
Daniel Ramos Espiritu, led the
ribbon cutting ceremony and Iftar
dinner that inaugurated the new
Philippine Embassy Complex at the
Diplomatic Enclave in Islamabad on
28 June 2016.
Pakistan Foreign
Ministry Additional Secretary for
Asia PacificMr. Zulfiqar Gardezi,
was invited as chief guest.
Jesus I. Yabes, the Undersecretary
for Migrant Workers’ Affairs of the
Department of Foreign Affairs,
attend the occasion. The
Undersecretary previously served as
ambassador to Pakistan and was
involved in the building project at
its inception.
He travelled to Islamabad along with
Mrs. Nida A. Lucenario, the widow of
former Ambassador Domingo Doy
Lucenario, who was one of the
victims of the helicopter accident
in Gilgit last year.
The contractor, Gold Roof, was also
represented by CEO Mr. Raja Nazeemul
Amin. The firm presented a film
detailing some of its projects,
including other embassies and the
CEO and Undersecretary Yabes handed
out certificates to Gold Roof
employees.
Ambassador Espiritu,
that the Philippine Embassy Complex
is the most modern foreign mission
in Pakistan.
Undersecretary Yabes said it is the
country`s largest embassy building
in the world.
In his speech, Undersecretary Yabes
highlighted the history and
importance of cordial cooperation
between the Philippines and
Pakistan. |
